Because Jesus

Did you know that God’s love for you is the most sincere love you could ever experience? And you don’t have to do anything to achieve it, He already loves you as you are. But in order to be with Him and experience His love to the fullest, you must be His child. This means you need to acknowledge your sin, ask for forgiveness, and believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins personally.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…” (Romans 1:16)

Everything was already done for your salvation when Jesus lovingly took your place as He died on the cross. He raised from the dead three days later and now He is thoughtfully preparing a place for all His children in Heaven!

Maybe you are skeptical. If we were sitting down talking about God’s love for you, you would look at me and state frankly,

“Kristin, I just can’t believe that God is a God of love. Look at how Christians behave. These are supposed to be the followers of Christ and they are jerks.”

Well, in some cases, you are right. Some Christians are jerks. I’m very sorry about that, and some day they will be accountable to Christ for their behavior (just like we all will be). However, Christians are only people, flawed in sin, and needing loving shepherds to guide them and encourage them to learn more about God by reading their bibles, praying, seeking godly fellowship, and longing to be more and more like Jesus Christ. Let’s all try to keep this in mind and give others the same grace that God has offered to us.

I can tell you that Jesus Christ will never, ever be a jerk to you. He might be righteously angry about things, He might allow you to go through trials in the quest to help you become more like Him, but Jesus will never, ever, leave or forget you.

“For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” Hebrews 13:5

He loves you so much He suffered tortures most of us can’t begin to imagine on the cross so that you could be with Him forever. But you have to be willing to admit you are a sinner, turn away from your sin, and let Jesus guide your life according to His amazing plans.

Look at these verses. I know you may be thinking, John 3:16, I have heard that a zillion times! But please, read through these three verses, together, and try to absorb their meaning.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” John 3:16-18

God sent Jesus to die on the cross because it was the only way to save you and to save me.

Other people will tell you that you have to A plus B multiplied by C in order to get into heaven. But the bible doesn’t say anything like that. In fact, that is a useless way to spend your life. Nothing you do can obligate God into ignoring your sin and letting you into heaven. God is justice, literally, He is justice itself. And justice cannot ignore wrong doings. True justice can never ignore sin. So God, in all His Holy love, made a way for you and I to enter heaven, to hang out with Him and worship Him for all of eternity. He sent Jesus to take our place, being punished on the cross, so that justice would take place, and we would still be allowed to enter heaven. Let’s pray!

Dear Jesus,

I know You died on the cross for my sins and all I have to do is believe to receive salvation. God, I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, and that You sent Him to save me. I know I have sinned against You, please forgive me. I accept Your gift of salvation that happened through Jesus dying on the cross. Please help me to know You are there and that You love me. I am now Your child. Thank You for adopting me into Your family for all of eternity.
