Novel Coaching Services

I’m here to help.

Kristin N. Spencer

Avid Reader, Author, Writing Coach, & Developmental Editor

Awkward and shy, my former self sat in an old classroom that needed some tender loving care when she learned that you could earn an entire degree focused on the reading of literature. When I look back at the decision to change my major from Business Economics to Comparative World Literature—though I now realize it wasn’t the most practical step forward—I have no regrets. I am literally trained to be able to take apart books, analyze them, and compare them to what else is out there within that genre and time period. Up until now, I wasn’t sure what kind of job I could find besides teaching that would utilize these skills.

Maybe you’re a new writer, or just dealing with a beast of a project. Do you need someone that knows how to fix plot holes and further character development? Or maybe you just aren’t sure if your story lives up to its potential. It could also be that you’re 3/4 of the way through your manuscript and you’re stuck. That’s why I’m here. As an avid reader and author, I understand the principles behind what transforms an ok book into a page turner. What makes the difference between a coherent and stirring character arc and an annoying protagonist that everyone will hate? Are there too many spectacular things happening in your Contemporary Fiction? Is your YA or NA outdated with the current trends? Is your Sci-fi too heavy or too light for your intended audience? Are you accidentally writing a Fantasy novel? How can you make your Non-fiction come to life? Do you need someone to set specific word count goals and follow up on how they are coming?

Think of me as your one on one workshop partner. For a fraction of the cost of joining support groups or hiring other book coaches, I will read and analyze your book, schedule 3 conversations, and give you detailed notes on your manuscript.
